KVHS

 Frequently Asked Questions

Here at the Kennebec Valley Humane Society we believe that a humane society is not a place but rather a reflection of the community in which we all should ideally live. We continually strive to provide education and public awareness to the members of our community.

If you find yourself confronted with an animal related situation, and do not know where to turn, the KVHS is here to help you. Although we cannot cover all of life's scenarios on this page here are a few commonly asked questions.

 Stray Animals

What do I do if I find a stray animal?

Contact your local Animal Control Officer (ACO). If it is after hours your local police department may be able to assist you.

Please keep in mind that Animals Control and Police Officers are trained in humanely capturing stray or wounded animals. Although you may be tempted to capture the animal on your own, animals that are scared or injured may act out of character and could be dangerous. Please seek professional assistance.
