The KVHS provides a wide variety of services, programs and educational information to its community. Please take a moment to browse through what we have to offer.  Municipal Services

  • KVHS serves as an animal control facility with 24 hour, 7-day-a-week access, for Animal Control Officers.
  • KVHS holds stray dogs for the state-mandated six-day holding period. This period allows owners to reclaim their dogs before making them available for adoption.
  • KVHS holds stray cats for the state-mandated 24 hour holding period before making them available for adoption. This period allows owners to reclaim their cats before making them available for adoption.
  • KVHS provides a quarantine facility for stray animals that have bitten people for the state-mandated ten day rabies observation period.
  • KVHS collects impoundment fees as requested by municipalities and ensures all reclaimed dogs are licensed.

  • lf not altered, animals are required to be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption.
  • KVHS offers lost and found services
  • KVHS, in conjunction with 11 participating veterinarians, offers a free exam program for new adopters
  • KVHS offers adoption counseling services to help aid in the selection of the appropriate pet for each family
  • Looking for a certain type of animal? KVHS offers a wish list. Once you are placed on our wish list you will be contacted if an animal matching the criteria you have selected is admitted.
